Bulova Oceanographer Snorkel 666 Feet

Summer is only a few months away, so it’s time for us to look at some proper beach-ready watch candidates. Today, we’re looking at a timepiece that usually flies under the radar and to be honest, I’m not sure why. I’m talking about the Bulova Oceanographer 666 Feet, also known as the “Devil Diver.” You can find vintage Oceanographers on the market; however, this rerelease is from a few years ago. It is inexpensive, rugged, and looks different than the average diving watch. The brand tried to stay as close as possible to the original Oceanographer’s design, and this new Bulova Oceanographer Snorkel 666 Feet is the result. The dial has raised pearl-like indices infused with SuperLumiNova that glow in the dark. The case is sizable but not overwhelming, and the bracelet perfectly balances the heft of the main watch. The black and red unidirectional diving bezel makes the Bulova Oceanographer Snorkel 666 Feet instantly recognizable.

Enthusiast’s Corner: Rare or Exceptional Timepieces

Patek Philippe Pilot Travel Time 5524G-001

The Patek Philippe Pilot Travel Time was a very controversial watch when it hit the market a few years ago. Many argued that the design lacked the classy and elegant touch we’d come to expect from this Swiss powerhouse. Others applauded Patek’s bravery for releasing such an odd-looking (though still technically stunning) timepiece compared to the rest of the brand’s line-up. I personally think the Patek Philippe Pilot Travel Time 5524G-001 was a much-needed breath of fresh air that stirred up the industry waters back in 2015. Its white gold case is elegant yet still low-key, the dial is easy to read, and if you can get used to the pushers being on the left side of the case, you have an excellent travel companion from one of Switzerland’s best houses. Its 42-mm size makes it perfect for any wrist. The dial’s military-style design is not something you see very often from Patek Philippe, making the 5524G a unique piece – not to mention its in-house dual time zone caliber.

Iconic Timepieces: Great Value for Your Money

Rolex Submariner 16610 Date

Many people feel that a date function is useless on a tool watch, especially when it comes to the Rolex Submariner. A lot of enthusiasts believe a Sub has no be no-date. That said, there is a huge fan base for Submariners with a date function. To be honest, I don’t really care for the little aperture on the dial, but I still don’t mind a “Date-Sub.” Plus, what watch is more iconic than the 16610? Well, perhaps the ref. 1680. We’ll get to that model on day, but today we are taking a closer look at a Submariner originally released in 1988 alongside the then-new in-house caliber 3135: the Rolex Submariner ref. 16610 with a date window at 3 o’clock. The company released 3 models: the 16610 in steel, the 16618 in solid gold, and the two-tone 16613. This watch is the perfect blend of modern and vintage. It combines a 40-mm case, tritium dial, and drilled lug holes with sapphire crystal and a COSC-certified movement. The Rolex Submariner 16610 Date is an iconic timepiece, and one that many consider the “other” Sub – and we love it!
